Kasandra started speed skating at the age of 11 when her dad signed her up to burn off excess energy. She wanted to play hockey but her father enrolled her in short track after seeing highlights of Marie-Ève Drolet, a native of the same region of Quebec Kasandra is from, win gold at the 2000 World Junior Championships. Kasandra has persevered through several injuries, eventually making her way to the podium at the 2016 World Championships for both the 1000m and 3000m relay. In the 2018 Olympic trials Kasandra finished 3rd overall.
The North Strong team can’t wait to watch her compete on the world stage at Pyeongchang!
